By riding the wave of anticipation, our own Mr. Santos chose to put his belief in Nintendo and it looks like its paying off. After 5 weeks he's up over 20% and leading the overall 2006 Battle of the Bulls competition. But watch out for Disney, Bryan's stock is closing in on a 20% increase as well.

With only a week left in the competition (and more importantly, only a week left until vacation) those Bens are looking to finally win a title. After getting beat out by the Bank Robbers in the Fall SMG game, they look ready to claim this one. I'm sure the Pop-ins will have something to say about it. And they'll get their chance later this week when they face off with Darius and his boys in what should certainly be a trade that decides it once and for all!!

The Bank Robbers continued the long running tradition of the RSE by winning the NYC Stock Market Game Championship with a portfolio growth of over $130,000! The foundation of their success was built on Apple's 33% increase in just 10 weeks. Getting honorable mention are the Benjamins for their 2nd place finish in NYC. The RSE has now captured the NYC title 5 years in a row.

Crude-oil prices spiked to settle near $60 a barrel Monday amid reports that a snowstorm would hit the U.S. Northeast, the world's largest heating fuel market, and boost demand for crude oil and natural gas.

Light, sweet crude for January delivery gained 59 cents to settle at $59.91 a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange, after soaring as high as $60.80 in earlier trading. So, how does the change in oil prices effect the stock market? We will put it on our agenda for discussion at our next members meeting.

The RSE has now posted combined earnings reaching the $100,000 mark in only 7 weeks of operation. It's been a "bull market" and all teams have taken advantage of it and contributed to the amazing success. The Bankrobbers have led the NYC competition over the last few weeks with now over $30,000 in profit! Can they be stopped? Is a limo ride to Wall Street really in their future??

GM Fires 30,000, shuts 12 plants

In its latest bid to stave off bankruptcy, GM fired 30,000 workers or approx. 9% of its global workforce yesterday. The company has lost almost $5 billion this year alone. Experts believe that GM will leap off the bankruptcy cliff by Christmas. GM stock dropped 47 cents to 23.58 in heavy trading. Why have they lost so much money? How will effect the rest of the market? We can discuss it at our next board meeting.

With almost 6 weeks completed in the big NYC Stock Market Game, the Bankrobbers are still ranked #1 and in charge. They had another big week making over $8000. Of coursethere's still a lot of time remaining, over a month, and as we've seen so far anything can happen when it comes to investing in the stock market. The Benjamins and the Million Dollar Kids certainly understand that as they sit 3rd and 7th in NYC.

The RSE teams had a record-breaking week 5 combining for over $30,000 in profit! With an over $10,000 gain for the week, the Bank Robbers took over first place in NYC. Way to go! But it's still any teams game. The Benjamins are right there and hold the 3rd spot the in the city along with the Mini-Investors Inc. in 8th showing an impressive $6,000 week of their own. You can't count out any team yet. Just ask the Stock Stalkers and the Aces with their $7,000+ weeks. Wow these kids are good!

As we roll into November (week 4) the Benjamin's have charged into the lead passing by the Bankrobbers and the Million Dollar kids. But watch out for Mini-Investors Inc. who are currently 4th. They had a terrific week to get back into the action making close to $4000. We have a long way to go and all it takes is one hot stock to take control of the game...what team will find it first?

3 teams have "charged" out to the front of the pack and are building a bit of a lead from the rest of the "stampede" in the early going. The Bankrobbers currently hold the top spot (2nd in NYC) followed closely by the Million Dollar Kids (4th in NYC), and the Benjamins (7th in NYC). So what's going on with the other teams?? Where are the Stock Stalkers, Mini Investors, and Pop-in Dollars? Where are the Money Baggers, Winners, and Ace Money Makers???? With the Fall 2005 Stock Market Game competition about to begin, the 9 teams that make up the Ridgewood Stock Exchange will be looking to defend the the schools 2004 NYC Championship. The RSE competes annually against over 1000 schools from all over New York City and New York State. The RSE has captured 5 NYC titles and an NYS title in the last 6 years.
